# Push Notifications

Send a push message to the drivers in your app, now or at a set time, to everyone or to an audience you build from where they charge, their team, discount or wallet.

**Customers → Notifications** sends a push message to the drivers in your app, now or at a time you pick. Each message reaches the phone as a notification and also stays in the app's notification inbox.

## At a glance

* **Notifications**: the tab with every notification you created.
* The search box and **Send notification**: find a notification by title, or create a new one.
* **Type** and **Status**: the filters of the list, for example scheduled notifications that have not gone out.
* The last update time: while a notification is going out, its status refreshes every 30 seconds.

* **Title** and **Message**: what drivers read.
* **Audience** and **Exclusions**: the conditions the notification targets, and the drivers left out.
* **Created**: when the notification was made, and by which admin.
* **Schedule**: **Immediate**, or **Scheduled** with the send time.
* **Status**: where the notification stands, see the table below.

## Send a notification

The window walks you through three steps: the content, the audience and a summary.

1. Go to **Customers → Notifications** and click **Send notification**.
2. Enter the **Title** and the **Message**.
3. Under **Schedule**, pick **Send immediately** or **Schedule for later**, and click **Next**.
4. Add the conditions that pick the drivers, and click **Next**.
5. Check the notification and click **Send notification**.

The title can hold 50 characters and the message 120. Short messages read best on a locked phone. If you pick **Schedule for later**, then enter the **Send date and time**.

A notification sent immediately starts going out when you finish the last step. A scheduled one waits as **Pending** until its time.

## Pick the audience

Under **Include conditions**, click **Add condition** and pick a rule. A driver receives the notification only if they match every condition you add.

| Condition | Who it picks |
| -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **All users** | Every driver in your app. |
| **Selected users** | The drivers you pick by email or name. |
| **Charged at location(s)** | Drivers who have charged at the locations you pick. |
| **Member discount** | Drivers who hold one of the <Glossary>Member discount</Glossary> offers you pick. |
| **Fleet team** | Drivers in the fleet teams you pick. |
| **Wallet activated** | Drivers who have activated their <Glossary>Wallet</Glossary>. |

Under **Exclude conditions**, add the drivers who must never get it, whatever the rules above say.

**Audience size** shows how many drivers match, out of all the drivers who can receive push messages. A driver whose phone does not accept push messages from your app is not counted.

The audience is worked out again when the notification goes out. A scheduled one also reaches drivers who match by then.

## Notification statuses

| Status | What it means for you |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending** | Created and waiting for its send time. |
| **In progress** | Going out now. Large audiences take a few minutes. |
| **Completed** | Delivered. Hover the status to see how many drivers it reached. |
| **Failed** | It could not be delivered. Contact support if this repeats. |
| **Cancelled** | It was stopped before every driver was reached. |

## Change or stop a notification

Open the menu at the end of the row.

* If the notification is **Pending**, then click **Edit** to reopen the three steps with everything filled in, or **Delete** to remove it.
* If the notification is **In progress**, then click **Cancel remaining** and confirm with **Stop sending**. Drivers already reached keep the message.

A notification that is **Completed**, **Failed** or **Cancelled** stays in the list and cannot be changed.

## How many you can send

You can create up to 5 notifications in any 24 hours. The first step shows how many you used, for example "1 of 5 notifications used in the last 24 hours". A cancelled notification still counts, and editing one does not.

## Common questions

**Can I send a message to one driver?** Yes. In the audience step, add the **Selected users** condition and pick the driver by email or name.

**Why is the audience size smaller than my number of customers?** It only counts drivers whose phone accepts push messages from your app. Drivers who declined them are left out.

**Can I change a scheduled notification?** Yes, while it is **Pending**. Open the menu at the end of its row and click **Edit**.

**How do I stop a notification that is going out?** Open the menu on the **In progress** row, click **Cancel remaining** and confirm with **Stop sending**. Drivers who already got it keep the message.

**Why can I not send another notification today?** You can create 5 notifications in any 24 hours. The allowance frees up as earlier notifications pass the 24 hour mark.

  ### **Availability**

If push notifications are part of your account and your admin account may send notifications, then **Notifications** is shown under **Customers**. If your account sits under a parent operator, then notifications are sent from the parent account, because the app users belong to it.
