Teams & Member discounts

The two ways to give a group of drivers special conditions: Fleet Teams (billed offline to the company, with spending limits and odometer requirements) and Member Discounts (billed in-app to each driver, including percentage discounts).

Both group drivers for shared pricing rules, but they settle money in opposite ways. Pick based on who pays:

Fleet Teams (offline billing)

A team is a set of charge keys with shared locations, pricing, and settings. The team wizard has five steps:

1. Charge keys

Give the team a Team Alias and select its charge keys. You can type a new key value (letters and numbers only) and press Enter to create it on the spot.

2. Spending limit

Limit how much each charge key in the team may spend:

  • Choose Fixed amount and set the spending limit: the maximum spend allowed per charge key.
  • Choose the reset cadence: Daily (resets at the end of each day), Weekly (end of each Sunday), or Monthly (end of the last day of each month).
  • Charge keys are disabled when the limit is hit and reactivate on reset.
⚠️

Updating an existing spending limit resets the available balance immediately: the full new amount becomes available for use.

3. Locations

Select the locations where the team may charge under these conditions.

Charger access at semi-public locations

Whenever a semi-public location is selected, a Charger access panel appears for it, headed "Choose which chargers can be used at each semi-public location". Each panel offers two choices:

  • All chargers at this location: the default, and what every existing grant means. The whole site is open to the group.
  • Specific chargers only: tick the chargers this group may use. The rest of the site stays closed to them.

Narrowing a grant changes what the group can use, not what they can see. Members still see the location in the app and can still find it on the map; they can only start a charge on the chargers you ticked.

A location switched to Specific chargers only with nothing ticked blocks saving, with "Select at least one charger." An empty selection would otherwise be indistinguishable from full access, so the form refuses it rather than quietly widening the grant.

Public locations have no panel. Access there is open by definition, so there is nothing to narrow.

👍

This replaces the old workaround of creating one semi-public location per charger. A shared site with mixed access, such as a residential building where each resident charges on their own unit, is now one location with per group charger access.

4. Pricing

Choose the pricing strategy for the team's sessions at your locations:

  • Set new pricing: a fixed price per kWh replacing the location price.
  • Use location pricing: the location's normal price applies.
  • Discount (%): the location price is reduced by the entered percentage.

5. Settings

  • Skip booking fees: the team does not pay booking fees at your locations.
  • Require odometer reading: drivers in this team must enter their vehicle's current mileage before starting a charging session, useful for expense reporting.
  • Status: Active or Inactive.

Member Discounts (in-app billing)

A member discount attaches special pricing to drivers rather than keys. Sessions are still paid by the driver in the app, at the discounted price. The wizard has four steps:

  1. Drivers: name the discount (Discount Alias) and select drivers, or add new ones by typing their email and pressing Enter, which sends an invitation.
  2. Locations: select the locations where the discount applies (public and semi-public). Semi-public locations get the same Charger access panel as teams, so a discount can be narrowed to specific chargers at a site.
  3. Pricing: the same three strategies as teams. With Discount (%), the location price is reduced by the entered percentage; with Set new pricing, the entered price per kWh applies to all sessions by the selected drivers at your locations.
  4. Settings: Skip booking fees and the discount's status.

Reading the lists

In the Fleet teams and Member discounts lists, the Locations column shows how wide each grant actually is. A location the group can use entirely is listed by name; a narrowed one carries its selection size, for example "Riverside Residences (2 of its chargers)". A group with no locations selected at all may charge at every location on your account.

The session count on each row is a link. Clicking it opens the Fleet sessions tab already filtered to that team or discount, so you can go straight from a group to its charging history. See Fleet sessions.

Common questions

Can I give a team access to only some chargers at a site? Yes, at semi-public locations. In the Locations step, switch that location's Charger access panel to Specific chargers only and tick the chargers. Public locations are open to everyone by definition, so they cannot be narrowed.

I created a separate location for each charger so I could control access. Can I merge them? Yes, that workaround is no longer needed. Put the chargers back on one semi-public location and give each group Specific chargers only with the chargers it should use.

Does narrowing charger access hide the other chargers from members? No. They still see the location and its chargers in the app, and can only start a charge on the ones granted to them.

Should I use a team or a member discount? Ask who pays. If the company settles the bill (you invoice them), use a Fleet Team. If drivers pay in the app but at better prices, use a Member Discount.

How do I give drivers 20% off at my locations? Create a Member Discount, select the drivers and locations, and choose Discount (%) with 20. The location price is reduced by that percentage.

How do I cap what an employee can charge for? Put their charge key in a Fleet Team with a spending limit: a fixed amount per key, resetting daily, weekly, or monthly. The key stops working when the limit is hit and reactivates on reset.

Why did a charge key stop working mid-month? If it belongs to a team with a spending limit, the key is disabled once the limit is reached and reactivates when the limit resets. The key can also have been set Inactive manually.

Can a team charge anywhere? Only at the locations selected in the team's Locations step.

What does Require odometer reading do? Drivers in the team must enter their vehicle's mileage before starting a session, so usage reports can tie consumption to distance driven.
