Charging sharing

How a home charger owner gives up to five other people access to the charger from their own accounts, and how that access is managed and removed.

This page is a sub-page of Home charging.

Availability: gated on having a home charger registered in the app, not a per-deployment option.

What sharing does

Sharing links another person's account to the owner's home charger. Once linked, the charger appears in the invited person's own app under Home, labeled as shared with them by the owner. From there they can start and stop sessions on it and set their own charging schedules, using their own login instead of borrowing the owner's phone or credentials.

Control stays one-sided: invitations and removals can only come from the owner's account. Being invited grants use of the charger, not a say in who else uses it.

Inviting someone

  1. The owner goes to Home, then Charger sharing.
  2. Taps Invite users and enters the person's email address.
  3. Taps Send invitation.

The invitation email contains a one-time code. The invited person opens their own app, goes to Home, chooses to add a charger, and enters the code from the email. Redeeming it links the charger to their account.

Important
The code works exactly once and links the charger to whichever account redeems it. After redemption the same code is dead, so it cannot leak onward: forwarding the email to a third person achieves nothing once the intended recipient has used it.

In deployments where the home charging area carries a different label, such as Dedicated, the same steps apply under that tab.

Revoking access

The Charger sharing screen lists everyone who currently has access. Selecting a person and tapping Revoke access removes them after a confirmation prompt. Revocation takes effect immediately: the charger disappears from that person's app and they can no longer start sessions on it. There is no way for the removed person to restore access on their own; getting it back requires a fresh invitation with a new code.

Common questions

Can an invited person manage the charger or invite others? No. An invited person can charge and set their own charging schedules, but the charger's settings and the user list remain with the owner, and invitations can only be sent from the owner's account.

What happens when the invitation email never arrives or the code no longer works? The owner can issue a fresh code with Resend invitation code on the Charger sharing screen. This covers lost emails as well as codes that were already redeemed, since a used code cannot be reactivated.

Does the five-person limit ever block a new invitation? Yes, once five people are linked. The limit counts people with current access, so revoking one of them frees the slot for a new invitation.
