Finding a charger

How charging Locations are found and filtered, what a location's detail sheet contains, and the exact meaning of every charger and connector status label in the app.

Map and list views

The Map tab plots every public location as a pin; tapping a pin opens that location's detail sheet. The List tab shows the same locations sorted by distance, each entry carrying its distance ("2.3 km away"), its opening state ("Open 24/7", "Closes at", "Re-opens at"), and a live count of free plugs ("3 plugs available"). The plug count updates with real charger state, so a driver can see before setting off whether a location is worth driving to.

Availability: optional per deployment. Deployments built around single home or workplace chargers and have no need for map or list at all; the app opens directly on that charger instead.

Search

The search bar matches locations by name and address. When nothing matches, the app shows "No matching results" with the hint "Please try again with other words"; a shorter query (a street name rather than a full address) is the practical way to widen results.

Filters

Filters narrow both the map and the list at once, and they combine, so all active filters must hold for a location to remain visible:

  • Plug type: hides every location that has no connector of the selected type. Filtering here before driving prevents the most expensive kind of wasted trip, arriving at a location where no plug physically fits the car.
  • Show only opened: hides locations that are closed at this moment according to their operating hours. A location that is merely about to close still shows, so the detail sheet's closing time is worth a glance for a long session.
  • Show only available locations: hides locations where every plug is currently taken, based on live connector state rather than a static schedule.
  • Show only bookable locations: keeps only locations where a time slot can be reserved in advance, useful when a guaranteed plug matters more than proximity.

Apply activates the selection and Clear all resets every filter at once. Active filters persist while browsing, which is easy to forget when the map suddenly looks empty.

The location detail sheet

Tapping a location opens its detail sheet, split into a charging view and an info view:

  • Plugs: every Connector at the location, each with its own plug ID (for example "Plug 20.2.1") and its own QR code. The plug ID and QR code identify one specific connector, not the location, which is what makes starting a session by ID or scan unambiguous at a site with many plugs.
  • Info: the address with a Get directions shortcut, the operating hours per weekday, and who the location is operated by.
  • Pricing: the tariff a driver will actually pay. A location can price a Walk-in session differently from a booked one, and can use fixed pricing or dynamic pricing that changes at certain times of day; the sheet states which applies and whether the shown prices include tax, exclude it, or have applicable taxes added when the session completes.
  • Fees: any charges beyond electricity, such as an Idle fee, booking fee, or parking fee, disclosed here before the driver commits to anything. What each fee means is covered in Billing and cost breakdown.
  • Booking: whether time slots can be reserved, with the bookable hours and slot duration. If no booking section appears, advance reservation is not offered at that location.

Charger status labels

Every charger displays one of six statuses. Reading them correctly tells a driver what will happen before plugging in:

  • Ready to use: no cable connected, no session running, and no reservation blocking the charger. A session can start immediately by any start method.
  • Connected to vehicle: a cable links the charger and a car, but no energy is flowing yet. This is the window between plugging in and the session being authorized; if no session is started, the charger eventually times out and returns to Ready to use, which is why plugging in and then waiting a long time before starting can require re-plugging.
  • Charging: energy is being delivered to a vehicle. The connector stays occupied until that session ends and the cable is removed, so how long it remains busy depends entirely on the current driver.
  • Charger reserved: someone has booked this charger for an upcoming time slot. Walk-in sessions are blocked ahead of the slot so the booking holder finds the charger free on arrival; a driver on site can pick another connector or book this one for a later slot.
  • Check charger!: the charger has reported a fault about itself and refuses sessions until the fault is cleared. Retrying will not help; the practical responses are choosing another connector or location and reporting the fault through Need help? so the operator learns about it.
  • Temporarily offline: the charger has lost its network connection to the platform. Even if the hardware on site looks fine, no session can be authorized remotely while the connection is down; offline states are often transient, so a charger that matters is worth rechecking after a few minutes.

Connector status

A charger with several connectors also shows a state per connector: Available, Occupied, or Unavailable. Charger status describes the whole unit while connector status describes one plug, and the two are independent: one connector can be Occupied by a running session while the connector beside it is Available for a new one. Unavailable means that specific plug cannot be used even though the charger as a whole may be working.

Reporting a broken charger

The Need help? option on a location opens the contact sheet for whoever operates that location: "Contact [operator name] customer service team." with a Call button, a Send e-mail button that opens a pre-addressed email with a "Support request" subject line already filled in, and, where offered, Other channels such as a chat contact that can be copied with one tap.

When the driver is logged in, the sheet also shows a Customer service code with the note "You may be asked for this code to help verify your identity." Reading out this code lets support find the right account immediately, without the driver spelling out an email address over the phone.

Common questions

How current is the availability information on the map? Plug counts and connector states reflect live charger state reported over the chargers' network connection, not a schedule. A charger showing Temporarily offline is the case where the app genuinely cannot know the on-site state.

Can two connectors on the same charger show different states? Yes. Connector status is tracked per plug, so a dual-connector charger routinely shows one plug Occupied and the other Available, and a session can start on the free one.

What does a driver gain by reporting a fault through Need help? rather than just leaving? The report goes to whoever operates that specific location through their own contact channels, and the customer service code ties the report to the driver's account, which shortens any follow-up about a refund or a failed session.

Does the pricing shown include tax? The detail sheet states it explicitly per location: prices either include VAT, exclude VAT, or have applicable taxes added when the session completes. There is no single global rule, so the sheet's own wording is authoritative.
