Charger sharing

How a home charger owner gives up to five other people access to the charger from their own accounts, how the operator manages the same list, and how access is removed.

This page is a sub-page of Home charging.

Availability: gated on having a home charger registered in the app, not a per-deployment option.

What sharing does

Sharing links another person's account to the owner's home charger. Once linked, the charger appears in the invited person's own app under Home, labeled as shared with them by the owner. From there they can start and stop sessions on it and set their own charging schedules, using their own login instead of borrowing the owner's phone or credentials.

Being invited grants use of the charger, not a say in who else uses it. An invited person can charge and set their own charging schedules, and can never invite or remove anyone.

Who manages the list

The owner manages the list from the app, and the operator can manage the same people from their own system: inviting by email, handing over an offline code, resending an invitation and revoking access. It is one list either way, so somebody the operator adds appears on the owner's Charger sharing screen and can be revoked there like anyone else. This is what makes it possible to arrange access at installation, or when the owner cannot get to the app.

Inviting someone

  1. The owner goes to Home, then Charger sharing.
  2. Taps Invite users and enters the person's email address.
  3. Taps Send invitation.

The invitation email contains a one-time code. The invited person opens their own app, goes to Home, chooses to add a charger, and enters the code from the email. Redeeming it links the charger to their account.

Important
The code works exactly once and links the charger to whichever account redeems it. After redemption the same code is dead, so it cannot leak onward: forwarding the email to a third person achieves nothing once the intended recipient has used it.

In deployments where the home charging area carries a different label, such as Dedicated, the same steps apply under that tab.

Sharing a charger that has an owner per plug

A Private charger in a condominium is set up with a different owner on each plug. Sharing then follows the plug: an owner shares their own plug only, and the people they invite can charge on that plug and no other. The neighbour's plug is not theirs to give away.

Where one owner holds more than one plug on the same charger, a single invitation covers every plug that owner holds, so there is nothing extra to send per plug.

Revoking access

The Charger sharing screen lists everyone who currently has access. Selecting a person and tapping Revoke access removes them after a confirmation prompt. Revocation takes effect immediately: the charger disappears from that person's app and they cannot start sessions on it. Revoking takes back everything that invitation gave, so where one invitation reached several plugs, all of them go at once. There is no way for the removed person to restore access on their own; getting it back requires a fresh invitation with a new code.

Common questions

Can an invited person manage the charger or invite others? No. An invited person can charge and set their own charging schedules, but the charger's settings and the user list stay with the owner.

Someone appeared in the list who was never invited from this phone. How? The operator added them from their own system. It is the same list, so the owner can revoke them exactly like anyone else.

What happens when the invitation email never arrives or the code does not work? The owner can issue a fresh code with Resend invitation code on the Charger sharing screen. This covers lost emails as well as codes that were already redeemed, since a used code cannot be reactivated.

Does the five-person limit ever block a new invitation? Yes, once five people are linked. The limit counts everyone with current access, and an invitation waiting to be redeemed occupies a place too, so revoking one of them frees the place for a new invitation. On a charger whose plugs have different owners, each owner has their own five.
