Plug owners

Every private charger is set up with an owner per plug: plug 1 belongs to one resident, plug 2 to another. Each owner sees only their own plug in the app, charges only on it, and is billed only for it. This is what makes a two plug charger a practical fit for a condominium, where the cost of one box is shared between two parking bays.

Nothing has to be switched on for this. Choosing the Private charger type is the whole decision, and a charger with a single bay simply has one plug to fill in.

Setting a charger up with owners per plug

1. Go to Charge Points → Private chargers and either click Add new private charger or open an existing one for editing.
2. Fill in the charger details, including the location, the brand and the charger model. The model is what tells the platform how many plugs the charger has, so the plug blocks stay empty until you have picked one.
3. Scroll to Configuration and owner settings. A block appears for each plug, headed Plug 1, Plug 2 and so on.
4. Fill in each block: a Plug alias, an owner, and that plug's own settings.
5. Save.

Naming a plug

Plug alias is the name the plug carries, and on a private charger it takes the place of the charge box alias. Residents recognise their bay by it, and the charger lists build the charger's name out of its plug aliases, joined by a dot, so a two plug charger reads as both bays at once.

Assigning an owner to a plug

Each plug block offers the same invitation methods as any other charger owner:

• Add owner via email: enter the resident's email address. They receive an invitation email with a redemption code when you save, and they redeem it in the EOSVOLT app exactly as any other charger owner does.
• Add owner offline: leave the plug unassigned for now. You can come back and add an owner later, or generate a code for offline distribution from the charger's settings.

From plug 2 onwards there is a third option, Same owner as plug 1 (and Same owner as plug 2 on plug 3, and so on). Pick it when one household takes more than one bay: the plug adopts that owner's email address and follows it if you edit it later.

One person owning several plugs is invited once. They get a single code in a single email, and redeeming it claims every plug they own on that charger.

A plug can be left without an owner indefinitely. An unassigned plug is simply nobody's: it does not appear in anyone's app and nobody is billed for it.

What each plug is billed

Owning a plug does not by itself change how the resident pays. Each plug carries its own settings:

• Paid charging: off means the plug's charging costs its owner nothing. On means it is priced with the charger's Price profile.
• Charging costs billed monthly: off by default on a new plug. Off means the owner pays in the app after each session; on means the charging accrues and is collected once a month. It can be switched on only while Paid charging is on.
• Subscription: an optional fixed monthly fee for the plug.
• Skip idle fee: on by default, so the location's idle fee does not apply to this plug.

Who can charge on which plug

Access follows the plug, and it is enforced at the charger:

• A plug owner can charge on their own plug. Attempting to start on their neighbour's plug is refused.
• A shared user added to a plug can charge on that plug only. They inherit their plug from whoever invited them, so a plug owner sharing from the app automatically shares only their own plug.

Each plug holds up to five shared users, so a two plug charger with two different owners supports two owners plus ten shared users.

What the charger list shows

On the Private chargers tab:

• Charge box id carries the charger's plug aliases underneath it, joined by a dot.
• Owner shows one line per plug, each tagged with its plug id, so you can see at a glance which bays are taken and which are still free. A plug carrying a monthly subscription fee is marked with a subscription icon on its line.
• Users shows how many people the charger is shared with. Hover the information icon to see who they are.

Changing a plug's owner

Replacing the email address on a plug hands that plug to someone else. The existing invitation is cancelled, a fresh code is issued, and the new person is invited when you save. Saving a plug you did not change never re-sends its invitation, so you can edit one plug without disturbing the others.

Common questions

Why can I not see the plug blocks?
Either the charger is not a Private charger, or you have not selected a charger model yet. The blocks stay empty until a model is chosen, because the model defines the plugs.

Can I use owners per plug on a home or hybrid charger?
No, private chargers only.

What happens if I only fill in one plug?
That is fine. The other plug stays unassigned, invisible in the app and unbilled, until you come back and assign it.

Can one person own several plugs?
Yes. Use Same owner as plug 1 on the later plugs, or enter the same email address on each. They receive one code in one email and one redemption claims all of their plugs.

Does giving a plug an owner change how they pay?
No. How the owner pays is decided by the plug's own Paid charging and Charging costs billed monthly toggles, and monthly billing is off on a new plug.

Can a plug owner charge on the other plug in an emergency?
No. The charger refuses it. The other owner can share their plug with them if they want to allow it.

Does the second owner see the first owner's sessions or costs?
No. Each owner sees only their own plug, its schedules, its sessions and its bill.

Do plug owners still get scheduled charging?
Yes. Schedules are per owner, so both residents can set their own without affecting each other.
