AutoCharge
How to enable AutoCharge from the mobile app and let a compatible vehicle identify itself automatically when connecting to supported chargers.
Availability: AutoCharge requires a compatible vehicle and charger.
What AutoCharge is
AutoCharge lets a charger recognize the vehicle through the charging connection itself.
Once AutoCharge has been enabled for a vehicle, supported chargers can identify it automatically when it is connected. This removes the need to scan a QR code, select the connector in the app, or tap a Charge key for future sessions.
AutoCharge only changes how the vehicle is identified. The charging session still follows the pricing, payment, and access rules that apply at the location.
Enable AutoCharge
AutoCharge can be enabled when connecting a compatible vehicle to a charger that supports it.
- Connect the charging cable to the vehicle.
- The app detects that AutoCharge is available for the connected vehicle and charger.
- A prompt appears asking whether AutoCharge should be enabled for future sessions.
- Confirm to enable AutoCharge for the vehicle.
Once enabled, the vehicle can be recognized automatically when it connects to a supported charger.
You do not need to manually enter a vehicle identifier. The information required for AutoCharge is detected through the connection between the charger and vehicle.
Charge with AutoCharge
After AutoCharge has been enabled, starting a future session is simpler:
- Connect the vehicle to a charger that supports AutoCharge.
- The charger identifies the vehicle through the charging connection.
- The platform recognizes the vehicle and authorizes the session.
- Charging can begin without scanning a QR code or manually selecting the connector.
The normal charging screen appears once the session has started, showing information such as charging time, energy delivered, charging speed, and estimated cost.
When AutoCharge is available
Both the charger and vehicle need to support AutoCharge.
If AutoCharge is available when the vehicle connects, the app can offer the option to enable it. If the option does not appear, the current charger, vehicle, or charging setup may not support AutoCharge.
Drivers can continue to start the session using another method available at the location, such as the app, QR code, Plug ID, or Charge key.
AutoCharge and Charge keys
AutoCharge and Charge keys both allow a driver to start charging without manually selecting a connector in the app, but they identify the driver differently.
A Charge key identifies the account when the card or fob is tapped on the charger.
AutoCharge identifies the vehicle automatically through the charging connection, so there is nothing to tap or scan once AutoCharge has been enabled.
Common questions
Do I need to enable AutoCharge every time I charge?
No. Once AutoCharge has been enabled for the vehicle, supported chargers can recognize it automatically during future charging sessions.
Do I need to scan a QR code when using AutoCharge?
No. At a supported charger, the vehicle is identified through the charging connection.
Why did the AutoCharge option not appear?
AutoCharge requires both the vehicle and charger to support it. If it is not available, start the session using one of the other charging methods offered at the location.
Does AutoCharge change the price of charging?
No. AutoCharge changes how the vehicle is identified and the session is started. The pricing and payment rules configured for the charging session still apply.
Can I still start charging normally after enabling AutoCharge?
Yes. Other supported charging methods remain available when needed.
