Sharing a charger

A home charger can be shared with other people so they can charge on it from their own app accounts. The owner manages that list from the app, and you can manage it from Spark in the Manage shared users window. It is one and the same list: an invitation you send appears in the owner's app, and a person the owner added appears in your window.

This works on Home, Private and Hybrid chargers.

Opening the window

1. Go to Charge Points and open the Home chargers, Private chargers or Hybrid chargers tab.
2. Find the charger and open the action menu at the end of its row.
3. Choose Manage shared users.

Changes take effect the moment you make them. There is no Save button and nothing to submit: Close simply closes the window.

What the window shows

At the top of each section sits a small header for context: the Charge box id with the charger's name beside it, the Owner with an access chip reading Verified, No owner yet or Code expired, and a User count reading how many of the section's five places are taken. The owner is shown read only here. Owners are changed in the charger's own settings, not in this window.

Each section is one access group with its own owner, its own list of shared users and its own limit of five.

• On a charger with one plug owner there is a single section covering the whole charger.
• On a charger whose plugs have owners of their own there is one section per plug, headed Plug 1, Plug 2 and so on. This happens on any charger with more than one plug owner, so a multi plug home or hybrid charger splits per plug in the same way a private one does. See Plug owners.

Inside a section the people are split in two:

• Verified users: they have redeemed their code and can charge. Each row shows their email, their user ID, who added them and the date. Owner in that line means the owner invited them from the app; anything else is the name of the admin who invited them from Spark.
• Pending: invitations that have gone out but have not been claimed. Each row shows the email (or Offline invitation when the person was given a printed code), the code itself, and a Code expired chip once it has run out.

Inviting someone by email

1. In the right section, click + Add new user. On a section nobody has been added to yet, the controls are already open.
2. Leave the choice on Invite by email.
3. Type the person's email address and click Send invitation.

They receive an email with a six digit code, valid for 30 days. They open the EOSVOLT app, add a charger, and enter the code to link it to their account. Until they do, they sit in the Pending list.

You can invite people before the charger's owner has redeemed their own code. Invited users can charge as soon as they redeem theirs, whether or not the owner ever got round to it.

Adding someone offline

Click + Add new user, switch to Add user offline and click Create code. A six digit code is generated for you to print or hand over, valid for 30 days. Use this when the person has no email address on file, or when an installer needs to leave something physical behind on site.

Use Download code on any pending row to get that person's code as a printable sheet.

Resending and refreshing codes

Pending rows with an email address carry a Resend action that sends the invitation email again. Once an invitation has passed its 30 day life the action becomes New code, which issues a fresh code and emails that instead. A code that has already been redeemed cannot be reused, so a person who lost access needs a new invitation rather than a resend.

Revoking access

Use the bin icon on a person's row, Revoke access. Their access ends immediately: the charger disappears from their app and they can no longer start a session on it. Revoking takes back everything that invitation gave them, so where one invitation reached several plugs, all of them go at once.

Two things are not possible from this window:

• You cannot revoke someone who is charging right now. The action is disabled and the window explains that their access cannot be removed until the session ends. Wait for it to finish, or stop the session from the Sessions page first.
• You cannot revoke the owner here. Removing or replacing an owner is done in the charger's settings, since it changes who the charger belongs to.

The five person limit

Each section holds at most five shared users, and pending invitations occupy a place. Where the plugs have owners of their own, that is five per plug, so a two plug charger can carry ten shared users between its two owners. Where one person owns every plug, an invitation they send from the app reaches all of their plugs at once, so they are still sharing with five people in total.

When a section is full the window says so. Revoke someone to free a place.

Common questions

Where is Manage shared users?
In the action menu at the end of the charger's row, on the Home chargers, Private chargers and Hybrid chargers tabs.

Why does this charger have a section per plug?
Because more than one of its plugs has an owner. That is normal on a private charger, and it also happens on a multi plug home or hybrid charger.

Can I add a shared user to a charger nobody has claimed yet?
Yes. The owner's invitation and the shared users' invitations are independent, so an installer can hand out access on the day of installation.

Why can I not revoke this person?
They have a session in progress on that charger. The action unlocks when the session ends.

Someone I did not invite is in the list. Where did they come from?
The owner invited them from the app. Their row shows Owner where an admin's name would otherwise be.

Does the owner see what I do here?
Yes, it is one shared list. People you invite appear in the owner's app, and the owner keeps the right to revoke them.

What is the difference between the shared user limit and the owner?
The owner holds the charger and its settings. Shared users can charge and set their own charging schedules, nothing more. See the driver side in Charger sharing.
